Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay for an obituary notice?
If you are a local funeral home, you may elect to be billed with an approved credit application. Otherwise, all notices must be paid for by credit card.

What if I notice a mistake in my notice after submitting it?
You may make changes to your notice at any point before deadline for that day’s publication. Simply log in to your account, locate your ad in the Future Ads area, and "Modify" the ad. If you are paying by credit card and you change the cost of the ad, you will be credited/charged the correct amount, depending on if your amount increases or decreases.

Can I work on my notice and save it without submitting it?
Yes, you may build the notice, see how much it will cost and save it for later. You will be prompted to create an account so you can log in at a later date to finish and submit the notice.

Will my notice run in color in the newspaper?
Yes, they will run in color in print and online if submitted in color.

Is the preview an accurate representation of how the notice will look in the paper?
Yes, what you see on the computer is what will appear in the newspaper. The production staff will check the quality of the photo to ensure quality printing, but otherwise it will run as is.

TIP:  To select the best photos to appear in black and white, look for both light and dark tones that contrast strongly with one another in the photo.

NOTE: The Opelika-Auburn News and its affiliates reserve the right to change the dimensions of the notice, if needed, while paginating the page. For example, a one-column notice may need to be converted to two-columns. There is no additional cost.

What if I miss the deadline for a publication?
Unfortunately, you will need to choose the next available date. Some sections of the newspaper are printed in advance and require a longer production time. If the date is unavailable on your screen, the deadline has passed.
